Can I Trust God?

All of us have been there at some point in our lives or another. We’ve all been at a point where we ask ourselves during some crisis situation, time of struggle, or rocky relationship, “can I trust you with this, God?” “Can I trust you in this, God?” Many times, we’d just rather not go through the struggle, or force that difficult conversation, or take that risky step to something deeper, fuller, or greater. We like to be in the familiar, even if we’re hurting or uncomfortable! We want to trust God, but it’s hard! Because of this, we start to play what Hinton calls the “what if game.” The game where we play with hypotheticals until we convince ourselves to stay in the familiar. But, God didn’t create us to be this way, in fact, God beckons us to fight deception, lean into the unfamiliar, and walk with God in trust. It’s hard, but we have to make that choice and God has given us a trustworthy track record that we can lean on through the process.
