The gospel doesn’t start with what we’ve done, or what we need to do. It starts with what God has done. True love for God cannot grow when we are unsure about God’s feelings for us. Rusty kicks off the Gospel series with this concept and goes to the Apostle Paul in the letter to the Romans for some wisdom about it. As long as humanity has existed, we have been trying to cover our shame. We try to convince God and ourselves that we’re good and right. But God doesn’t need convincing. God made us good and through Jesus we are made righteous. This message is all about getting rid of our desire for approval and trying to get God to love us more and soaking in the fact that there is nothing we can do to make God love us more or less.
