Where Is God In My Pain?
Mauricio Ruiz | July 3, 2022
Mauricio Ruiz, pastor at Santa Clarita’s own Elevate Church in downtown Newhall, presents on this extremely important question of where God is at in our pain and what God’s role is within it. Creatively framing the question with the notion of “myopia,” which is another word for shortsightedness, Pastor Ruiz takes it even further as he contends that we see things “not as they are, but as we are.” In other words, we interpret the world through our own experiences and personalities among other things.
Connecting this notion to a story of Moses in Exodus 15 when the Israelites were thirsty in the wilderness after the parting of the Red Sea, he contends that we are often distracted in life, particularly in times of great pain or suffering, and it blinds us from seeing God clearly and trusting that God loves us and has our best interest at heart, even when it doesn’t look or seem that way at all.
