Join us as we are praying BIG prayers for Simi Valley

As we get close to celebrating 18 years in Simi Valley, we have been praying big prayers and dreaming big dreams about how our church can become irresistible to the community around us. We want God to show us how we can serve in new and impactful ways to increase our reputation as a Church that Simi Valley loves and appreciates. Not only for who we are as a gathered group of worshipers, but who we are as a people who care for those in our community.

As we pray, dream and talk about new possibilities, we do so with a value to honor Discovery’s past and present while also looking towards the future with open surrendered hands, just as those who launched this location 18 years ago.

TIMELINE

2003

Discovery Church Founded

Since our conception, our goal as a church has always been for us to be irresistible to the community around us, serving and impacting those who call Simi Valley home.

2005

East Easy Steet

Moved into our current location and experienced God do amazing things in our community.

March 2017

Merge with Real Life Church

Our merger with Real Life Church better positioned us to accomplish our mission of Helping People Find and Follow Jesus.

January 2019

Financial Peace University (FPU)

As we navigated through FPU it became clear that not only should our families take a closer look at their finances, but we as a Church should as well. We looked at all things finances (debt, remaining mortgage balance, etc.) and determined we had to improve.

August 2019

Began praying big prayers and dreaming big dreams

In this season we started praying big prayers and dreaming big dreams about opportunities to serve and impact the community in Simi Valley like never before.

March 2020

COVID-19

Covid-19 impacted the physical closing of our building due to health regulations. This provided a focused time with limited disruption to our daily operations to explore new ways of utilizing physical space in the future for our church gatherings.

August 2020

Exploring Opportunities

We began exploring in two areas, the first was looking for new locations in the Simi Valley area that would lead to potentially higher visibility, and more opportunity to reach a growing and developing community. The second area was to put the building on the market to see if there would be any interest from buyers.

We asked God “If it is your will, would you provide a buyer for our building?” He answered with not one but two offers on the building.
